Seong Heon Kim, MD, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Seoul National University College of Medicine and Seoul National University Children’s Hospital, Seoul, Korea. He is a pediatric rheumatologist and pediatric nephrologist who provides comprehensive care for children with a wide range of immune-mediated and inflammatory diseases, including juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), chronic recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis (CRMO), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) including lupus nephritis, juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM), and pediatric vasculitis.
His research focuses on immune dysregulation and neutrophil-driven inflammation in pediatric autoimmune, autoinflammatory, and rheumatic diseases, with particular interest in monogenic and systemic autoinflammatory syndromes such as CAPS and haploinsufficiency of A20 (HA20/TNFAIP3), as well as STING-associated vasculopathy with onset in infancy (SAVI). He conducts translational research to elucidate disease mechanisms and identify clinically actionable biomarkers, integrating advanced technologies including single-cell RNA sequencing with clinical investigation and multicenter collaboration. He has published more than 90 peer-reviewed articles, with 1,613 citations and an h-index of 20 (as of December 2025).
