  • Professor Catherine Hill is Head of Rheumatology and Head of Rheumatology Research Group at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and Clinical Professor at the University of Adelaide. She is Chair of APLAR Education Committee and past President of the Australian Rheumatology Association (ARA, 2020-2022). Her research focuses on rheumatic disease epidemiology, vasculitis, clinical trials and improving models of care with consumer engagement. She was awarded the ARA Parr Prize for Rheumatology Research Excellence in 2022. She established Australia’s first Giant Cell Arteritis Registry in 2009, enabling national and international collaborations in vasculitis research. She recently co-convened the International Vasculitis Workshop in Melbourne in Feb 2026. She has led major osteoarthritis trials and contributed musculoskeletal data to the North West Adelaide Health Study and the Global Burden of Disease projects.
    Professor Hill has also led the development of the Rheumatoid Arthritis Clinical Care Standards for the Australian Rheumatology Association, guiding best practice and equity in care delivery. She has held leadership roles within OMERACT, co-chairing initiatives on polymyalgia rheumatica and glucocorticoid adverse events. She is recognised for mentoring emerging clinician-scientists and championing flexible academic career pathways. She is deeply committed to consumer engagement in research and service improvement, partnering with patient groups to shape research priorities and outcome measures.
