  • Dr. Seung-Cheol Shim is a prominent medical professional and researcher specializing in rheumatology. He currently serves as a Professor in the Division of Rheumatology at Chungnam National University Hospital and the Translational Immunology Institute at Chungnam National University.
    His medical foundation was established at Hanyang University, where he earned his Bachelor of Medicine, followed by a Master of Science and a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Medicine at the same institution. He also gained international experience as a Visiting Professor at the University of Washington(2002–2004). He is a recognized specialist in treating a wide range of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, and Spondyloarthritis.
    He is a prolific researcher who has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers focusing on the genetic and immunological markers of rheumatic diseases. His work often explores cytokines, single nucleotide polymorphisms, and the effectiveness of biologics and biosimilars in the Korean population.
    Beyond clinical practice, he is an active leader in the medical community, having served as President of the Korean Society of Synovial Research, President of Korean Society of SLE research, and currently the president of KCR.
